Ammolite is made up of Calcium Carbonate, Aragonite, Iron, Silica & various trace minerals including, Aluminum, Barium, Chromium, Copper, Magnesium, Manganese, Silicon, Strontium and Vanadium. It is a soft stone and composed of aragonite. Ammolite is a variety of Ammonite fossils and is formed by the mineralized remains of Ammonites. Color: It displays bright iridescence in yellow, green, red, orange, brown, black by compression and mineralization of the Ammonite fossil.The iridescence was not visible during the animal's life as additional shell layers cover it, disclosing it only after being fossilised. Meaning: The word Ammolite is taken from the name of the Ancient Egyptian God Ammon, represented by a ram's head with twisted horns which look similar to the shell of the Ammonite cephalopods.
